Why has my cat started snoring so loudly?

He is 4, neutered, vaccinated and seems perfectly healthy but he has started snoring a lot, you can hear him across the room! He has always snored faintly but now it’s really loud. He seems fine in every way but what could cause this?

My kitten snores, and you can hear her little nostrils. The weather is changing and perhaps your cat has the sniffles, and this is causing some nasel snoring. If he is eating, sleeping and playing normally he should be fine, just keep an eye out for him. Check the heating in the house, ensure a window is open or there is ventillation in the room, even a bowl of water will help, not just your cat, but you too XXX
It may be nothing but I noticed my cat snoring a few weeks before her URI ( upper respiratory infection) was active.
my cat has always snored like a trooper. My vet said that it’s just the way he is and he’s perfectly healthy.
Shouldn’t be a problem but if you feel genuine concern or you notice somethings not right, check with you vet. If not, let snoring cats snore
Have you noticed any other symptoms/changes in behaviour? Irritable? Sullen? Ear stretchers? Could all point to a kitty-ket problem. If he’s staying out all night, even in winter (hence the seasonal rhinitis) he could be grafting kitty-ket round your close.
Apologies I’ve had zero sleep and am delirious – my cat did this for a couple of weeks when the weather went cold, he stopped staying out all night, and after a couple of weeks he was fine. I think it was just the cat equivalent of a snotty nose. Ha – like anyone is going to brave enough to tell your man-pawed beast he snores!
