I was diagnosed with Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) a few weeks ago. I have been off of active duty for roughly 1.5years. Currently I have a disability claim for this condition, but while i was on active duty, i didn’t have any treatment or diagnosis of symptoms (I was a young marine who had no clue that snoring could be serious). Anyway, since I didn’t complain about any symptoms I was having on active duty, and the OSA diagnosis was just made 1.5yrs after discharge, what would my likelihood of receiving a service connection be? THE VA HAS ISSUED ME A CPAP SINCE THE DIAGNOSIS.

It isn’t just snoring (I can usually nudge him, and he turns to his side and his snoring stops).
First of all, every night, all night long, his legs twitch. Constantly. It is almost non-stop, but he is totally asleep when it happens, so I don’t think it’s restless leg syndrome.
Then, at least a couple times a week, he sits straight up and tries to have a non-sensical conversation with me. He is asleep, but his eyes are open and he’s looking at me. If I ignore him, he says "hey, hey, hey" trying to get my answer. He usually seems to have something very urgent to tell me and so sometimes he’s loud enough to wake our daughter (she has enough of her own sleep problems as it is)! I have to say "You are SLEEPING" several times before he wakes up. Sometimes he gets up and walks across the room before realizing it was a dream.
It is really annoying! Is there anything he can do to remedy this?
I actually did used to have fun with it. Going along with his strange trains of thought. Listening to the weird crap that came out of his mouth. But it really isn’t too amusing when you want to sleep and my daughter is waking up, too!

I got back good results from my last survey so here’s another.
Now I know people think just men and overweight people snore and have sleep apnea but do any of you young slender women snore? I mean snoring that shocks people who hear you or shoked you when you found out you snored or have sleep apnea. Do any of you gasp or choke for air and thats how you found out or did someone tell you and you denied it that it could be you?

I don’t know if I ever will sleep again. My mind just keeps thinking all night long, never goes into sleep mode. I guess the only solution is to try sleeping pills. I never wanted to have to use these things, but it’s my only hope.
I have talked to my husband about this, and he does not think it is the issue. He thinks and I think that it has to do with me being worried about getting pregnant and job issues.
