Take him to an ENT doc for an evaluation. He may need his adenoids removed. These are frequently the cause of snoring. It’s important to rule the above out as severe snoring is also a symptom of those that also suffer from sleep apnea a sleeping disorder that disrupts the pattern and depletes the amount of oxygen to his organs. Oddly enough people who snore are not necessarily sleeping well which is evident when they are still exhausted after a night’s sleep no matter how much they get. It’s also exhausting for you as the spouse who sleeps next to someone who suffers from the snoring.
Sleeping apart from your husband is probably what neither of you wants so it would be worth your while to have him evaluated.
Try those tapes that go across the bridge of his nose and keep the passages open.
My H’s snoring bothered me for years. I don’t know, one day I just decided to live with it. It helped to get Tivo too! If he snores through something I’m listening to on tv, now I can just rewind it after I shake him a bit and he turns over.
As far as sleeping goes… there are voids. As long as I can get to sleep, I can sleep through the rest of the rumbling.
It’s not worth destroying a marriage over. Get back in bed with your hubby and rub his back or tickle his chin when he snores.
Good luck. I hope you get some rest!
Have him tested for sleep apnea. It can be a very dangerous condition which may contribute to high blood pressure and heart disease. If he has sleep apnea, they will give him a CPAP machine which he’ll have to use at night. It will stop his snoring.
If he doesn’t have sleep apnea…have him sleep on his side instead of his back..try the nose strips that open his nasal passage…or see an ENT (he could have a deviated septum).
If none of those work, try going to bed before him so you’ll be asleep before he is. You may not hear his snoring if you’re asleep before he starts.
He may suffer from sleep apnea. It can be dangerous, if severe enough. Try those nose bandages that pull the air passages apart (Breathe Right). If that does not work, he needs to go to the doctor. Sometimes they can help by doing as very small surgery on him, or even with a nasal spray..
Check here to see if he has the other symptoms that occur with sleep apnea:
My ex had sleep apnea. It drove me crazy to her him snore, because it was so loud. After he got the surgery, it was much better. Sometimes they can use a nasal spray, and there is a breathing machine that helps too.
He may have sleep apnea. If he wear the apnea mask, he would look like he is going to take off to the moon anytime, not pretty let alone sexy. Try memory pillow, that might help
Wear earplugs. You can get nice little foam ones at Wal-Mart in packs of a couple of dozen for just a few dollars. Buy them in the pharmacy and personal care section.
They have a nice selection and some include a little case. The ones I like are purple.
I started wearing them years ago while deployed on a Navy Helicopter Assault Carrier. My room was directly under the flight deck. When sleeping, it was common to have the deck and maintenance crews moving aircraft at all hours. Dragging chains across the steel deck, dropping aluminum wheel chocks, etc. Not to mention at any time some damn announcment preceeded by some whislte blast over the comm system.
