How can you stop snoring without surgery? And what brings on snoring?

My partner snores sooo loud it is keeping me awake at night, he never used to but now we are arguing about it, so any ideas minus surgery would be great.

Stick your head in a bucket of water three times. Come up twice. You’ll never snore again.

My boyfriend used to snore and it turned out it was because he had infected tonsils. He’d get tonsillitis about once a year and eventually had them chopped off and now he sleeps silently – I kind of miss it though, its rather comforting hearing him.
Snoring is usually because of an obstruction and it could mean he’s unhealthy. But don’t argue over it, next time he’s snoring away and you can’t sleep just focus on it, the gentle breathing in and out and it’s so soothing, sort of makes you appreciate that he is breathing.
