Well, my husband is what is called a "heroic" snorer, in which the snoring is so loud it can be heard in other rooms of the house.
"Because you tend to snore more when sleeping on your back, one useful technique is to try to keep from sleeping in that position. One way is to wear a pocket T-shirt backward with a tennis ball in the pocket. You will be less likely to sleep on your back because it is very uncomfortable to sleep on a tennis ball."
Try losing some weight. As little as 10 pounds might make the difference. Avoid alcohol, especially in the 4 hours before going to sleep. Avoid using sedatives and narcotic medications. Alcohol, sedatives, and narcotics cause relaxation of your throat muscles and increase the tendency for airway obstruction related to snoring.
Those should help. The Breath-Rite nasal strips should help. But, in our house, just having the snorer sleep in a different position does the trick!
Lots more info on snoring and treatment of snoring at site below. Hope that helps!
get some of those breathe right strips, they work for sure. you can find them at your local grocery or drug store.
take the pillow away
Home remedy? Try some honey and masking tape.
Pillow over face until the offender stops snoring. And breathing – prevents repeat offences
surgery
Dont ever ever ever ever ever ever go to sleep!
a sock in the mouth.
1. losing weight, especially around the neck
2. a nasal decongestant
3. a CPAP machine
4. an oral device
TRY EATING GARLIC HALF HOUR BEFORE BED TIME
Breathe right strips are great. For someone overweight, there is a laser surgery where they scrape the back of the throat and reduce the tissue there. There is a product called D-Snor or D-Snore where you spritz it in someone’s face and they stop snoring.
I asked this question two months ago and have been using Breathe Rite strips as a result on and off for the last two months with pretty good success.
The only problem I have had is that I can’t use them night after night forever b/c they do stick to your nose pretty tightly and getting them off takes some epithelial tissue along each time.
Oh, I have also lost about 15 pounds which helps, too.
The Memory foam mattress. Its made to take snoring away, on some people
alcohol
Side-sleepers generally don’t snore as much. Laying on your back causes more snoring, usually. And Breathe-Right strips do help as well. Might want to check with the doc if you are tired during the day..could be signs of other problems such as sleep apnea.
the thing that causes snoring to my understanding is due heavy breathing, lung problems, brething problems , or asthma so get that under control with a doctor and ur snoring is gone
All I know is when you’re sick, you snore more!
stop breathing . .. . .. lol
The ‘Breathe Right’ strips can help. So can stuff like pinning an empty can to the back of your pajama shirt, to keep you from laying on your back.
But sometimes snoring can be associated with sleep apnea. This is a medical condition where the sleeper actually stops breathing, sometimes for several mintues! Sleep apnea is a serious condition because it causes "oxygen starvation", every organ and system in your body suffers when there isn’t enough oxygen. Besides that, people with sleep apnea feel lousy. Not only are they oxygen starved, they never get a good night’s sleep. They are grumpy all the time.
A common treatment for sleep apnea a machine that you wear to bed. It looks like an oxygen mask and it keeps you breathing 12-20 times a minute, the way you should. See your doctor if you suspect sleep apnea.
A couple we knew had actually filed for divorce, and then the husband got the machine. When he started getting good sleep and enough oxygen, he was like a new man! They went from nearly divorced to love birds!
Of course, you could always just put this guy’s head in a plastic bag and that will cure the snoring forever.
