What causes snoring and how can it be stopped?

My boyfriend recently started snoring a lot. It seems like it only happened when he sleeps on his back, but its getting to the point to where he keeps me up at night. I’m wondering what causes snoring. I would also like to know if anyone has any home remedies that might reduce it (and if you don’t, just let me know what medications, nose strips, etc worked for you).

I am 36 weeks pregnant and over the last week have developed an inability to sleep in decent blocks. Typically I will be able to lay down for 1-2 hours if I am lucky. Each time though constant snoring and being jolted awake by snorts or gasps… has me troubled. I do have an appt on Wednesday and of course will talk to my midwife.. but in the meantime.. is this normal? Also, my tongue seems to be a bit swollen – maybe from having my mouth open all night?
i just can’t figure it out and I am getting desperate for some actual sleep!

How to stop snoring so much?

my little sis snores a lot and very loudly at times. i insist to my mom for her to go get check but she assures me it’s nothing. i’m just wondering if theres anything you can do at home that can reduce her snoring and how much she does it or make it stop completley? please help!

I am diagnosed having sleep apnea and still undergoing treatment. I have to take public transport daily for the 62 mile trip to work (or 90 minutes travel time). As the bus or train leaves the station at 5am, most passengers take time to sleep during the trip. With my loud snoring should I suddenly fall asleep, people get mad and I get so embarrased. Listening to music and watching DVD movies through my portable players can’t keep me away from falling asleep too.

They just recently got back together and they are 60 years old. They both snore so bad that they keep each other awake at night. They’ve had to resort to sleeping in separate rooms, it’s so bad. What can they try to maybe not snore, or not snore so intensely? They snore in all positions so rolling each other over does not work. Does anyone know if those pillows that are supposed to stop snoring actually work? Does anyone know what they can try?

Also can it lead to having to breath through your mouth whilst eating, making you a noisy eater?
